Today I learned that watching TV (or playing video games) for more than 2 hours each day can increase your chance of developing Type 2 Diabetes. Eating healthier (less processed meat, sugary drinks, and fried food) and exercising for at least 150 minutes each week can drastically decrease your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes if you have a more sedentary lifestyle. Just another reason to eat smart and get active!

Today I learned that when giving pets blood transfusions of Packed Red Blood cells, you can re-suspend the blood in sterile saline, but you don't have to. We usually choose not to at my clinic but according to my ER doctor, you can do it either way and it will still be effective. Neat! :)

Today I learned that tanning beds are known to cause skin cancer! Glad I never got into the habit...
So it begins!
I've decided that there is so much in life to learn, that it would be fun to keep a record of (at least) one new thing I learn every day! Please feel free to post what fun new thing you've learned today as well!
Yesterday I learned that "You catch more bears with honey than with vinegar." Meaning, you'll get a lot more cooperation if you are nice to people than if you yell and shout. :)
